Amina Theis spent her childhood in Vietnam and Thailand and moved to New York City when she was 9 years old, with her mother and sister, where she fell in love with performing.

She attended Friends Seminary High School where she began to perform in plays and musicals, and sing and play guitar in jazz ensembles.

She graduated from Skidmore College in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Theater and a minor in Spanish Language. Other studies and interests of hers include classical and jazz singing, dance, comedy, and writing poetry. She has enjoyed directing, playwriting, and producing as well, which have helped further her passion for acting and collaborating with other theater artists.

She has studied theater at numerous intensives and institutes including the Eugene O'Neill Center with the National Theater Institute, Shakespeare & Company, Complicité, Atlantic Acting School, Powerhouse/New York Stage and Film, and the Cherubs Theatre intensive at Northwestern University.

She spent the summer of 2016 on a national tour with a performance troupe called the leastaways and they performed 38 shows of an original play in 49 days, while traveling to 19 states. This has been one of her favorite and most magical life experiences to date and would love to get back to performing on the road someday.

Amina is represented by Agency Connects, and alongside performing she teaches organizational skills to students and professionally organizes people's homes.
